Dear Reader,
My name is Gabriel Miro, also known by the nickname gm the iPad Whisperer. I was born in Budapest in 1947 (yes, I apologize that my photo is “a bit” misleading; it was taken in 1995 when I was 58 years olds—pleasant to remember). At the age of 10, I immigrated to Israel with my family. In 1970, I completed my studies in Mathematics and Physics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Since finishing my studies, I have been a software engineer in various companies and roles. In particular, I worked 17 years at IBM Israel, and I co-founded a company called Micro Macro for developing software for Apple Macintosh computers. The apps were in the field of word processing and multilingual desktop publishing (DTP). Multilingual in the sense that they supported all types of scripts in the world. This included, of course, RTL (Right-to-Left) languages such as Hebrew and Arabic, as well as Eastern languages like Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. Chinese and Japanese are unique not only because of the special forms of their characters but also because they have alphabets of thousands of characters, making it impossible to type with a regular keyboard; a special technique is required, which is provided by Apple, and the software must support it. The software Allscript, AllPage, and WorldWrite were sold worldwide—in Europe, the Middle East, North America, and the Far East. In some countries, the sales were made directly by Apple representatives on-site.
IIn summary, I have been in the computing field for over 50 years—a true dinosaur—and particularly over 40 years of that in the Apple ecosystem. I have been using an iPad since 2010, and I am, of course, still using it today. During this time, I have had the opportunity to guide groups and individuals, and I have also taught Mathematics and Physics to individuals and in high schools. Therefore, the subject of teaching people is not foreign to me. I have invested all my heart, soul, and knowledge into this website, despite the fact that following a brain event in February 2023, I am confined to a wheelchair. I hope you will love it and gain a lot of benefit from it. I would also be happy to receive questions and comments at my email gabi.miro47@gmail.com. Thank you for the trust you give me.
Gabriel Miro, aka gm the iPad Whisperer.
